Archelon is a well-known prehistoric turtle that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 80 million years ago, with fossils primarily found in North America, especially South Dakota and parts of Canada. It could grow impressively large, reaching up to 15 feet (4.5 meters) and weighing over 5,000 pounds (2,268 kilograms). Unlike modern turtles, Archelon had a large, flattened, leathery shell, which allowed for streamlined movement in the water. Its long, paddle-like flippers enabled power
